Fundamentals of Stormwater Wetland Design
This one-day course provides training on the fundamentals of constructed stormwater wetland design to enable better design and assessment of stormwater wetlands. The course compliments the “Water Sensitive Urban Design Technical Design Guidelines for South East Queensland” (Version 1 June 2006) and covers recent advancements since publication of the guidelines. A field trip in the afternoon reinforces what is learnt throughout the day.
The course is presented by Malcolm Eadie and Sally Boer.
By the end of this course participants will:
- Be familiar with the design method for constructed stormwater wetlands detailed in the “Water Sensitive Urban Design Technical Design Guidelines for South East Queensland” (Version 1 June 2006).
- Have an appreciation of the science behind why and how constructed stormwater wetlands work.
- Be aware of urban design principles for constructed stormwater wetlands.
- Be aware of the major design issues for constructed stormwater wetlands, and how to address these.
Course content:
- Introduction to wetlands and WSUD
- Understanding wetlands
- Design issues for constructed stormwater wetlands
- Key considerations for modelling constructed stormwater wetlands in MUSIC
- How to design a constructed stormwater wetland
- Construction, establishment and maintenance
- Field Trip
Who should attend?
