Course Outline

This one-day course provides training on the fundamentals of constructed stormwater wetland design. The training will be based on the Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) Technical Design Guidelines for South East Queensland (Version 1 June 2006) and will cover recent advancements since publication of the guidelines. A field trip to a constructed stormwater wetland example will take place in the afternoon. Please bring suitable attire (i.e. closed shoes and a hat) for the fieldtrip.

Key Learnings

  • Be familiar with the design method for constructed stormwater wetlands detailed in the WSUD Technical Design Guidelines for South East Queensland (Version 1 June 2006).
  • Have an appreciation of the science behind why and how constructed stormwater wetlands work.
  • Be aware of urban design principles for constructed stormwater wetlands.
  • Be aware of the major design issues for constructed stormwater wetlands, and how to address these.

Who should attend?

The training course will assist practitioners seeking a working understanding of constructed stormwater wetland processes and design issues. Knowledge of constructed stormwater wetlands is not a prerequisite.
