Coomera Waters Bus Tour and Seminar

Monitoring the effectiveness of water sensitive urban design

On Wednesday 22 July a group of water professionals went out to Coomera Waters to learn how well stormwater is being managed throughout the development.

Bioretention systems, swales and wetlands are systems used to manage urban stormwater runoff in Coomera Waters, and are all highly regarded examples throughout the region.  The Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM), Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and Gold Coast City Council have partnered on a monitoring project to measure the effectiveness of these WSUD measures under ‘real world’ conditions, including monitoring urban hydrology and water quality.
