Finalist: Water Warrior Award
Kenmore State High School Parents and Citizens' Association
Kenmore State High School Parents and Citizens' Association brought students, staff and the local community together to restore the environment along the banks of Moggill Creek and McKay Brook.
In 2015, the group worked to remove weeds and exotic flora species, and plant native grasses, sedges, vines, shrubs and trees that are endemic to the local area. These re-vegetated areas are maintained through regular weeding, watering and mulching.
The group works closely with the school on projects such as waterway monitoring to educate students on the importance of waterways, and foster a greater appreciation of the environment.
