2011
Australian Water Association (AWA) National
Winner – Program Innovation Award
The award recognises the efforts of organisations who deliver significant and innovative environmental or sustainability programs within the water industry. The AWA stated that ‘over the past two years the program has established itself as the leading initiative of its kind in Australia …’.

Winner – Program Innovation Award
This award recognises significant and innovative programs within the water industry that deliver sustainable social, economic, environmental and water resource benefits.
Stormwater Industry Association (SIA) Queensland
Winner – Excellence in Asset Management
This award was received for the Needs and Scope Assessment to Advance Water Sensitive Urban Design Asset Management Practices. Water by Design acknowledges the financial support of the Queensland Government, Ipswich City Council and Logan City Council, the work of consultants DesignFlow, and the Asset Management Advisory Group.

Healthy Waterways
Australian Insitiute of Landscape Architects (AILA)
Winner – Excellence in Research and Communication
This award was received for the Concept Design Guidelines for Water Sensitive Urban Design. The judges commented that ‘the Concept Design Guidelines for Water Sensitive Urban Design has significantly advance understanding of how to manage water resources in our urban environment.’
Stormwater Industry Association (SIA) Queensland
Winner – Excellence in Stormwater Research/Education
This award was received for the Concept Design Guidelines for Water Sensitive
Urban Design. The guideline award was accepted by leading authors of the document, EDAW AECOM. Water by Design would also like to acknowledge the financial support given by the following organisations: Department of Environment Resource Management, Brisbane City Council, Ipswich City Council, Logan City Council and Redland City Council.
Stormwater Industry Association (SIA) National Excellence Awards
Winner – Excellence in Stormwater Education
This award recognises the provision of programs which create public awareness of the interactions between urban living and stormwater flows and seeks to enhance stormwater and associated urban outcomes by changing knowledge, attitudes and behavior within broad or particular groups.
